One of the best days in the school calendar – The promotion of reading for pleasure!
World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This is the 20th year there’s been a World Book Day, and on 2nd March 2017 children of all ages will come together to appreciate reading. Very loudly and very happily. The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
We like to make it a week of celebration by touring schools across the UK.
For our World Book Week we are touring ‘Alice In Wonderland’.
Your school will watch a full production of this magical show. Featuring all of the popular characters from Lewis Carroll’s original book with all the magic of a TaleGate Theatre Production. To see the quality of our shows visit our gallery page.
This will then be followed by a series of workshops to engage pupils in the joy of reading. Understanding the author’s craft and how a story is created.
This can then lead to further literacy work in the classroom with our educational pack we will leave with your school.
World Book Week is Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March. So we are very limited to how many schools we can visit.
